Coaches Report – Rnd 7 – Comets vs Easts 28/04/2009
We would like to thank all the loyal supporters who watched the Comets on ABC TV on Sunday arvo. Thanks heaps for your support and hopefully the outcome of the game was a good repayment. This game has been one of our toughest tasks in years gone by, with the Comets last winning on TV 3 years ago against Wynnum but also being stuck on a losing streak to East’s for 6 years or 10 games.
This week we had a bit of a reshuffle throughout the squad with Tom Hewitt pulling out early in the week and Andrew Dale being unavailable. This saw Danial Grevsmaul, the young Brothers front rower, given a call up to sit on the bench . We were very good in the opening exchanges and the game plan was paying off. We had an idea that Easts were always going to have a dig at some stage and their team on paper rivals an NRL forward pack.
For about 15mins, give or take, East’s ran in some soft tries through some of our ordinary defence, which was with out a doubt something that Mackay will be looking at on DVD.
With South’s, again winning the top spot, which seems to elude us however for the meantime I like where we sit with the Comets quietly achieving.
