Coaches Report – Rnd 8 – Mackay 05/05/2009

For those who were not in the crowd you missed a spectacle of football from the Comets. We went into the second half leading 18-6 against Mackay, with my half time speech reassuring the boys that Mackay were only a sniff away from some good footy. These are the games that we need to put to bed and start being ruthless and put some points on, well didn’t they listen….The boys put on 6 tries in 40mins with some scintillating end to end footy. The wash up was that the whole backline scored a try each and a few forwards also wanted in on the action, but the most pleasing aspect was that Mackay even though down and out still attacked with vigour and our lads defended well enough to keep them score less. With this match breaking more records (6th win in a row) and the players and crowd enjoying themselves I think that that the Comets players deserve a pat on the back.

This week we are away in Bundaberg playing against new comers Sunshine Coast Sea Eagles. This team has had mixed results but they have a stat, which is interesting –  they have lead every game but one at half time. We travel down by bus on Friday night then play on the Saturday at 4pm at Salter Oval in Bundaberg.
