Coaches Report – Rnd 12 – Souths Logan 02/06/2009

With the five players in tow, we travelled out early Friday morning to start our school visits with our first stop at Duaringa State School. We had a ball with the kids and it was a good opportunity for the pupils to see the Comets boys in real life. With more stops at Bluff, Dingo, Blackwater High and Blackwater North Primary by that afternoon we deserved our nana nap at 3 o’clock. The rest of the team arrived at 4.40pm and then we trained at the game venue and even had a game of touch footy with the local kids.

As success is measured by games won and lost,  this weekend was not considered successful but off field I thought that the boys efforts to promote the game and team were excellent.  The fact that all my blokes work out side of footy and I could get 5 willing and eager players to take time off work to be available for the venture out west.

As been reported by Paul Bramley (South’s Coach) the first half of the encounter was the fastest games of footy this year and I agree. The game was played at a horrendous pace and the speed of the game and the lack of ball we had really showed in the last 25mins of the second half. Talking football, we completed 26 sets out of 33=78%, which in any other game will win you some points. South’s completed 33 out of 45=73%, as you can see 12 more sets than Comets.

I would like to thank all the supporters of the Comets and hope to see all at our home game.  This one will be a cracker as Wynnum were the team to spark the 9-game winning streak when they beat us by 2 in round two.

On a side note my mum reads this section every week and just to say hello and earn some brownie points. HI MUM…..
