Coaches Report – Rnd 17 – Easts 29/07/2009
East’s Tigers came with the attitude of playing hard fought football; East’s keep their final hopes alive with this critical win. The Comets need to think back to years gone by and remember that feeling of trying to spoil team’s final runs, because now all teams are out to do this to us. We really have to lift our football and commitment levels not only to match them but also to excel and stamp authority on 2009 seasons end.
That oval ball is killing us at the moment I am hoping that all this luck is building up. If you were at the match you would have seen a flying Matt Sing fumble a sitter and Todd Titmus do the best juggling act since the circus was in town. We had passages of football where we should have put points on the board but East’s were just that more desperate to defend. East done their homework on certain players in our squad and really shut them down. Our attack was disappointing, in stages, we looked unorganised and as I said to the boys at half time, it looked like we had been thrown together for a game of footy. These are things that we will try to rectify at training depending how many we can get on the field due to injuries.
Four games to go with Mackay away this weekend, I am looking forward to competing for the Meng Cup which the Cutters currently hold. These next four weeks are important that we can travel without injury and be able to get some of the winning formula back on the park.
