Comets downed by resurgent Easts 29/07/2009

The Rockhampton Leagues Club Comets again fell at the final hurdle on Saturday night missing some key opportunities to post a home game win against a rejuvenated Easts team bent on making the semi finals.

The first half was one that the Comets would look back on with sheer anguish at the lack of polish to compliment the effort, bombing 2 certain tries that would have put the game beyond doubt early. First opportunity saw Matt Sing put down a ball unattended with the line wide open followed by Todd Titmus much the same only this time over the line untouched. To look back can sometimes distort what’s ahead and that’s exactly what coach Barnett is emphasising to his players a month from the semis. ‘Easts brought their A game and if your not ready every team will grab the 2 points, it’s that close in this years Cup’.

The Comets now hoping for some key personnel to return face a Mackay side ready to upset some of the leading teams. Nat Bowman Mick Esdale, Tom Hewitt, Guy Williams, Junior Auru, Marc Fickling and PJ Marsh are all set to return to the line up in coming weeks to get the ship sailing straight again.

We would like to thank this years Gold Sponsors PCD Steel Processing, Queensland’s leading steel processors and suppliers for their massive contributions.
