Barnett pleased with improvement 28/04/2010
FIVE losses in a row has not dampened the spirit of coach Wayne Barnett and his Central Comets.
The Comets went down in a tight contest 26-18 to the Northern Pride on Saturday night, however Barnett was pleased with the way the side kept to the game plan and dug in for each other.

Front rower Tim Glasby was once again impressive while five-eighth Marc Fickling looked comfortable filling the chief playmaker’s role when halfback Matt Minto left the field with a nasty cut above his left eye.
The Comets have the upcoming weekend off and Barnett sees it as a great opportunity for the players to refresh.
“There’s a few guys that are carrying some niggling injuries that just need a couple weeks to heal,” he said.
“The weekend off will give them a chance to be fully fit for the round 8 match against Wynnum Manly Seagulls.”
The Comets will be boosted by the possible return of four regular starters to the side.
It is likely that hard-working back rowers Guy Ford and Chris Beasley will be included, while winger Dallas Williams and front rower Alan Rothery will more than likely take their places in Barnett’s 17 man squad.
The match against the Seagulls will be the Comets fourth away match in a row.
Due to the balance in the draw, this will mean that the Comets will finish the season with a run of home games, something that Barnett is hoping will help build his side up for the finals.
“Our back half of the season is very favourable,” he said.
“In saying that, I don’t want to have to rely on winning all those matches.”
While technically the Comets play seven of their last 10 games at home in Rockhampton, one of their away matches is at Gladstone’s Marley Browne Oval creating the eighth ‘home’ match.
In order to show their support for the Australian Red Cross Blood Service’s vision of improving the lives of patients through the power of humanity, Comets players and staff will be donating blood at the Australian Red Cross Blood Service in Rockhampton tomorrow.
